Ronald P. Schiller, head of the Insurance Coverage Practice and Vice Chair of the firm, recently argued an appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eight Circuit in the matter of UnitedHealth Group, Inc. v. Columbia Casualty Co., et al. Ron Schiller has served as lead trial and appellate attorney in this matter for two of the insurers, heading the Hangley Aronchick team of Robert Ebby, Bonnie Hoffman, Jacqueline Robinson, and Robert Wiygul.
Ron and his team represent insurers Executive Risk Specialty Insurance Company and First Specialty Insurance Corporation—both part of a professional liability insurance tower issued to plaintiff UnitedHealth Group, Inc.—in this complex coverage action in which UnitedHealth seeks hundreds of millions of dollars in coverage. In December 2014, the Hangley Aronchick team prevailed on summary judgement; UnitedHealth appealed. On October 19, 2016, Ron argued the appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
