Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Has Announced a Public Comment Period on New PFAS Drinking Water Regulations
PADEP has opened a 60-day public comment period regarding its new proposed rule to set maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) in drinking water for two PFAS related chemicals – perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS). The proposed MCLs are 14 and 18 parts per trillion (PPT) respectively. If finalized, these MCLs will have a significant impact on water systems across the state. It will also have a significant impact on groundwater cleanups in PA.
The comment period closes Wednesday, April 27, 2022. More information on this proposed rule can be found here in the February 26, 2022, PA Bulletin.
PADEP will also be holding five virtual public hearings on the proposed rulemaking during the week of March 21, 2022.
Please contact Steve Miano or Pete Keays if you have any questions or if we can assist with preparing comments.
