Shareholder Michele Fenkel recently spoke with Law.com about how midsize law firms are working to meet client needs while also supporting attorneys with competitive family leave policies. 

In the article, Michele, who chairs Hangley Aronchick’s hiring committee, noted that associate feedback is crucial in crafting equitable policies that provide a sense of balance and bolster firm recruitment and retention efforts.  

“From the top down, associates have a voice and visibility into the firm’s governance,” Michele said. “They have a representative to the board of directors … at some point years ago parental leave policies had movement in the larger legal marketplace, and it was the associate representative who went to the board and recommended the firm keep an eye on and make policy changes to remain consistent with the market.”
