We are thrilled to announce that shareholder Helen Casale has been selected by the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the Greater Philadelphia area’s Outstanding Voices for the LGBTQ+ community. This recognition, part of the publication’s annual Business of Pride series, highlights local leaders who have made a difference in the business world through their advocacy and support for LGBTQ+ individuals or causes.

Helen was honored for her work securing stronger legal protections for same-sex couples who conceive a child through assisted reproductive technology. One of the state’s leading family law practitioners, Helen was instrumental in clarifying the legal right to parentage for a non-biological mother in the closely-watched case Glover v. Junior. The case, now on appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, asks the state’s justices to adopt the doctrine of intent-based parentage, a significant milestone that would provide much-needed certainty for LGBTQ+ families who conceive with the help of a third-party donor.

Helen frequently works with members of the LGBTQ+ community, and in 2014 she was part of the Hangley Aronchick team that worked with the American Civil Liberties Union to successfully challenge the Pennsylvania Defense of Marriage Act.
