Advocating for others, especially those who lack a voice, is essential to who we are as a firm and what we do. Our attorneys regularly dedicate time to pro bono efforts, sometimes spending years on cases. We are proud of our relentless pursuit of justice and willingness to speak up when others may not.
Andrew’s pro bono work includes challenging the conviction of a death row inmate on habeas corpus grounds and helping represent a homeowner in a mortgage foreclosure action. He is a member of the pro bono team filing amicus briefs on behalf of certain experts in cases involving the use of evidence obtained through torture.
Matt handles various pro bono cases, representing indigent clients in a range of matters, including death penalty defense, prisoners’ civil rights, bankruptcy, and uninsured personal injury defense. He is currently president of the the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project, a nonprofit that helps families get a financial fresh start.
Jason works with Philadelphia VIP, representing indigent defendants in both criminal and civil rights matters. He obtained the vacation of a client’s 20-year old conviction and sentence, which was affirmed by the Third Circuit. The client was subsequently released from prison for the first time in more than two decades.
Isabel is the vice president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania (HBAPA) and is a member of the Board of the HBAPA Legal Education Fund. Isabel also handles immigration and prisoners’ civil rights matters for pro bono clients; she recently helped a Venezuelan woman and her family obtain asylum.
John serves on the Board of The Reinvestment Fund, a nationally recognized development finance corporation and on the Boards of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, Children First, the Education Law Center, and Pilot Legis. He leads the pro bono team filing amicus briefs on behalf of experts in matters involving the government’s use of evidence obtained through torture.
