Caitlin McHugh, an associate in the Antitrust group, has experience in a range of matters. At her core a litigator, she focuses her practice on pharmaceutical antitrust litigation, particularly reverse-payment cases.
In this work, she leverages her background in chemistry to understand scientific studies involving pharmaceuticals, and she applies her strong analytical skills to litigation drafting and strategy. She often works at the intersection of patent law and antitrust, analyzing the patents covering the drugs at issue, evaluating the merits of those patent cases, and working with medical and patent law experts. Prior to joining the firm, she handled pharmaceutical and medical device product liability defense litigation.
Caitlin is active in professional associations, including the American Bar Association Antitrust Section, where she serves on the Advisory Board of the Pricing Conduct Committee. She is also a dedicated community servant. As part of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation’s Board Observer Program, she served as the Observer for the Public Interest Law Center, and she remains passionate about the Center’s mission, currently serving on its Communications Committee and Annual Event Committee. Additionally, she has represented pro bono clients through Philadelphia VIP, including a matter in which she represented a Philadelphia home owner in a premises liability case. She has also volunteered at the Philadelphia Family Court Help Center.
Caitlin earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from William & Mary Law School, where she was a Senior Articles Editor of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal and received the Legal Practice Scholar Award and the Gambrell Professionalism Award. She earned undergraduate degrees in History and Chemistry and Chemical Biology, cum laude, from Cornell University. Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate with Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in Philadelphia.
