Hangley Aronchick is proud to announce that three of its shareholders have been recognized by Benchmark Litigation. Michele Hangley has been named to the list of Top 250 Women in Litigation, which recognizes the best female litigators in the US, Canada, and Latin America. This is the seventh consecutive year she has been named to the list. Jason Levine and Rebecca Melley were named to the publication’s 40 & Under Hot List, which recognizes the best up-and-coming litigators in the United States and Canada. Both Levine and Melley were named to the list last year as well.
Hangley handles high-stakes commercial and legal malpractice cases across the country, appearing most frequently in Pennsylvania state and federal courts. Her clients include international corporations, small businesses, entrepreneurs, lawyers and law firms, and government officials. Her commercial litigation practice covers a broad range of areas, including business tort and breach of contract claims and intellectual property disputes. She also defends attorneys and law firms in legal malpractice cases arising out of complex lawsuits and transactions. She has been appointed as a discovery master and as a judge pro tempore for the Commerce Program of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and has served as a Hearing Committee Member for the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania’s Disciplinary Board. She is also frequently called upon to lecture on matters involving civil procedure and attorney ethics. Hangley is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Levine represents financial institutions, real estate companies, and professionals and entrepreneurs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and across the country. He has led successful representations of companies against former shareholders for breach of contract and intellectual property claims, and he regularly counsels companies and their stakeholders on internal corporate disputes. Levine also maintains a robust pro bono practice and is an active member of the community. He is a regional Board and Executive Committee member of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and chairs an ad hoc committee focused on expanding the ADL’s educational programming and law enforcement training throughout South Jersey. He also is a current member of Leadership, Inc., a nonprofit organization that mobilizes private sector talent to serve the community. Levine is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Melley represents a wide variety of clients, from large corporations to individuals, in complex litigation involving business, intellectual property, civil rights, insurance coverage, and real estate issues. She litigates in federal and state courts, and also resolves cases through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including arbitration and mediation. She is an approved arbitrator in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Melley is a committed pro bono advocate, and served on the firm’s teams for Whitewood v. Wolf, which struck down Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act, and in the Luzerne County Kids-for-Cash Scandal, where she represented the class of 2400 juvenile victims of one of the worst judicial scandals in US history. Melley is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
