Cary Rice is an experienced and strategic litigator known for her sharp advocacy and her ability to connect with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel alike. She brings a practical, people-centered approach to complex commercial disputes, combining rigorous analysis with strong legal instincts.
Cary represents clients in the technology, financial services, healthcare, and energy industries in business disputes, defense of personal injury and other tort claims, and other complex matters including civil RICO claims. Her practice also includes regulatory and enforcement matters, such as assisting clients in responding to state and federal agency inquiries, conducting internal investigations, preparing witnesses for U.S. Department of Justice interviews, and developing customized compliance programs. She has appeared before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission in formal evidentiary hearings.
An active pro bono practitioner and community member, Cary has represented the Pennsylvania Innocence Project in both federal and state courts and serves on the Community Advisory Board of Healthy NewsWorks, a nonprofit that equips students in underserved communities with journalism and health literacy skills. In addition, she is active in the pediatric cancer community and advocates for increased awareness and support for affected families, including through her work with the Madelyn James Foundation.
Cary has been named to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 Under 40” list for 2024–2025 and was listed by The Best Lawyers in America as “One to Watch” for Commercial Litigation for 2024–2025. Before joining Hangley Aronchick, Cary practiced in the litigation and white collar defense groups at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP and Bingham McCutchen LLP in Washington, D.C.
