Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller shareholder Steven T. Miano recently spoke on environmental law issues for the Pennsylvania Brownfields Conference. Miano served on the Brownfields Basics panel, which was an introductory course for those new to brownfields redevelopment. Later in the conference, he served on the Mock Site Development panel, an interactive legal panel designed to guide audience members through the redevelopment process, during which he spoke on the legal issues associated with acquiring contaminated properties.
Miano has practiced environmental law for nearly 25 years, and his practice includes all facets of environmental law and litigation, including federal and state cases involving the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Hazardous Waste laws, Superfund, brownfields redevelopment, and energy development. His clients include industrial corporations, commercial entities, and municipalities.
Before entering private practice, Miano was an Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region III, Hazardous Waste Branch. He is an adjunct professor at Rutgers University Law School – Camden, where he teaches courses on environmental law. He is a frequent lecturer and has written about environmental legal issues for a variety of publications. Currently, he is an Executive Committee member and the Publications officer of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources. He has also served as a course planner for several national environmental law programs. Recently, Miano authored a chapter on TMDLs for third edition of The Clean Water Act Handbook.
Miano earned his bachelor of science from George Washington University in 1982, and his law degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 1985.
